Shuanglang is located at the northeast of Dali city, the northeast of Erhai Lake. It is a historical and cultural famed town. To the west is Cangshan Mountain, to the north is Erhai Lake, to the east is Jizu Mountain – one of ten famous Buddhism mountains in China, and to the south is the Small Mount Putuo.

The green lake water and mountain scene made up of a natural and harmonious landscape. It is the most livable small town, and here goes a saying that “the most gorgeous scenery in Dali is Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, while the most pleasant place at Cangshan and Erhai is Shuanglang Town”. As a minority nationality region, Shuanglang has abundant national – featured resources, deep folk customs. Their clothes, dialect, food and traditional believes are distinctive. Besides, they have unique national dwellings featured with grey bricks and white walls. The whole house presents an ink wash drawing scene.

What to See/Do: Cycling around Erhai Lake of Shuanglang is a pleasant thing, to see the most beautiful lake and sunrise, and stunning Cangshan Mountain. The biggest feature of this small town is “tranquility”. You don’t need to find any scenery here on purpose as each place is a scene that can bring you surprise. You can climb on Nanzhao Customs Island to watch the 17 – meter – high white marble statue of Goddess of Mercy. Spring and summer are the best seasons to visit Shuanglang, but the town can still bring you different experience if you travel here at other time.

Public transport: Take bus at Xiaguan Dali North Station between 08:30 and 17:00, 40 minutes a bus at 17RMB;
Take taxi at Dali Old City to Shuanglang at about 160RMB.
