Shaanxi History Museum
The Shaanxi History Museum in Xi’an is regarded as “the pearl of ancient dynasties and the house of Chinese treasures”. It gives a miniature overview of thousands of years of Chinese history and the splendid cultures of ancient times.
It covers 65,000 square meters (16 acres), of which 11,000 square meters (207 acres) belong to the exhibition halls and 8,000 square meters (about 2 acres) are used as warehouses for storing relics. Now, 370,000 exhibits in the museum vividly show the history of over a million years, from prehistoric times (1,150,000 years ago) to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
A guide will introduce you the best treasures among all of the relics displayed there.
Located in the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area, the Xi’an Museum is a good place to learn about the history, economy, social life and culture of Xi’an — the one-time capital of 13 dynasties.
It consists of 3 areas: the cultural relic area, the Lesser Wild Goose Pagoda and Jianfu Temple area, and the garden area that covers an area of 16.3 hectares.
Xi'an Stele Forest (Bei Lin) Museum
The Stele Forest Museum in Xi’an is well-known nationally for its fine and large collection of more than 1, 000 inscribed stones, engraved during a 2,000 year period from the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) to the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1911). It is a good place to get a closer look at Chinese history and culture.
The museum, covering an area of 31,000 square meters is divided into seven major exhibition halls, which mainly display ancient works of calligraphy, historical records and stone carvings.
