Po Lin Monastery is the most renowned temple in Hong Kong. The monastery is located on Ngong Ping of Lantau Island. In front of it are the Tian Tan Buddha on Muyu Peak and Fahua Pogoda on the left side, and Lotus Mountain and Lion Rock on the right side.

The monastery was built in 1924. After years of efforts of Hong Kong people, it has become one of the most renowned and most popular tourist destinations in Hong Kong.

What to See/Do: The monastery offers tourists accommodation for their convenience of watching sunrise on Lantau Peak, the second highest mountain of Hong Kong, or experiencing a short time secluded life here.

The views here are outstanding, so it is a place for a nice walk. The monastery has over 40 halls including the glittering and magnificent main hall. The vegetarian meal offered in the monatery is a must-try.

In front of the monastery is the peak of Muyu Mountain, on which there is the Giant Buddha – Tian Tan Buddha. Tian Tan Buddha itself is also a very stunning scenic spot.

Public transport: Take a ferry at No.6 pier of Central to Mui Wo of Lantau Island, then take Lantau Bus 2 at Mui Wo Bus Stop to Ngong Ping; Take MTR Tung Chung line and get off at Tung Chung Station, then take Lantau Bus 23 at Tung Chung Bus Terminal to Ngong Ping; You can also choose to take the Ngong Ping 360 at Tung Chung Station to Ngong Ping.
